Chateau Chaume Arnaud, AOC Vinsobres, 2022
38 hectares of vines spread across the communes of Vinsobres and St Maurice sur Eygues.
The red wines are made from Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre grape varieties for the AOPs (Vinsobres, Cotes du Rhone Villages St Maurice, and Cotes du Rhone appellations).
Caladoc, Syrah, and Merlot are used for the IGP Méditerranée and Vin de France.
The white wines are made from the Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier grape varieties for the AOPs.
Chenin, Chasselas, Rolle, Picpoul, and Marsanne are produced for the IGP and Vin de France.
🏞️ Vineyards & Terroir
Vinsobres is the most Northerly of the Crus in the Southern Rhone and one of the highest at 400 to 450 metres (higher than the highest vineyard in Gigondas). Vinsobres benefits not only from the Mistral (from the North) but also the ‘Pontias’ which blows from the East, and from the pre-Alps.
🍇 Grape Varieties
The communes of Vinsobres and St Maurice are located in the south of the Drôme department, in the Eygues Valley. They overlook the north face of Mont Ventoux.
The climate is Mediterranean, ideal for growing vines and olive trees.
The hillside with its clay-limestone and stony soil offers beautiful southern and south-eastern exposures, where we grow Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah.
The plateau at over 400m altitude is more clayey and very stony.
Always windy, it provides us with cooler conditions, we grow Syrah and white grape varieties: Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier.
